Adelyn turned three at the end of April. Since it had been lots warmer than around Hadley's birthday and because we have a huge yard and large deck we decided to invite my family, Curtis' family and some of our friends over all at once for a BBQ birthday party for Adelyn.
At the beginning of April, my brother Bryce turned 19. My mom made this cool cake for him.

I loved it so much I decided to copy it for Adelyn's birthday. Again, I'm no good with frosting. So I made it too runny. While it was still warm, I had to keep sliding the cupcakes back in place. Hence the melty look in the picture. Once it cooled off the frosting stuck too well to whatever it was touching besides the cake and when we took it apart to eat it most of the frosting got ripped off and was on the bottom of whatever had been on top of it. Oh well.

Luck was not with us. The evening started out cool but nice. By the time dinner was over it was cold enough most people had gone inside and then it started to rain really hard -- so everyone went it. Here's Curtis' grandparents.

My married siblings and Kevin & Lindsey (Curtis' best friend from HS and his wife).

Curtis' sister, my brother, mom and two sisters watching Adelyn and Hadley decide what to do about the presents.

Curtis' mom, dad and brother watching as Jaylee (K & L's oldest) helps Adelyn open presents.

Adelyn immediately put on some of the gifts. She loves to dress up.

Hadley did anything he could to draw the attention to him.

Kevin and Lindsey just had a new little girl. I'm glad they let Curtis hold her -- he absolutely LOVES babies.

Adelyn showing off her cool new puzzle.

We were amazed that everyone fit inside. There wasn't much breathing room, but it was good enough.
Now, if we could just convince her to get rid of her binky (she still asks for it every night at bedtime) and get potty trained!

Happy Birthday Tubbs family! (Well, you, Hadley and Adelyn. I'm not sure when Curtis's birthday is.) I am impressed by all of your cake-making and creativity. And I love Adelyn's hair- I can't wait until Lissie's is that long. Not that it will be done as well as you do Adelyn's. :)
Wow! I didn't realize their birthdays are so close together! I bet that makes life busy! I also love the way you do Adelyn's hair. So cute! And I like your cakes! Also, I've heard that it is "easier" to potty train kids once they are three, so hopefully she will do it! It's weird to think I still have YEARS of changing NATHAN'S diaper...and then with more kids...well, never-ending diaper changes ahead! Ack!
