Mostly Cheesy Pictures

I was looking through our pictures deciding which ones I wanted to blog about and this is what I came up with. Enjoy.

I found this one among the "new" pictures but it must be pretty old. Adelyn's hair is long, the walls are white, the old trim is still up and even the old carpet is still in. Anyway, I couldn't pass up posting a picture of Adelyn in such a cute pose - wet hair and all. Ignore the background, who knows what was going on.

We recently helped Krysta and Jay move into their new house. It's way cute and they've already done a great job fixing up the interior to suit them.

For mother's day this year we made our mothers signs that remind them of everyone's birthdays and anniversaries. This one is ours, the main phrase was different on each of them. The flower is a removable piece - there were four of them, for the seasons. The stars are birthdays and the hearts are anniversaries.

Over conference weekend (I know, that was a while ago) we constructed Square Foot Gardening boxes. We've decided we don't like weeds and gardens so big they're unmanageable. We're giving square foot gardening a try this year and so far we think it's wonderful.

We also planted grass seed in the "back 40" of our yard. After Curtis tilled it, we came out to see this. Hadley had walked the length of it three times and then sat down and started playing in it like it was a sandbox.

The Sunday of Bryce's farewell was beautiful. So my mom had everyone sit for a large family picture - the last one with everyone in it until Wesley comes back from his mission. While we were there we also took some family pictures of just our family.

I can't decide which one I like better.

And for those who have been waiting (who knows if "those" people even exist), here is a picture of me three months pregnant.

I tried taking a picture of Adelyn's hairdo recently and she insisted on "posing" for it. So I didn't get much of the hair itself, but I did get a silly picture of her in a basketball jersey (from the kids' dress-up drawer).

I think I mentioned that we put the trim back up in the front room? Anyway, right before we did, Curtis had to measure a few things so Hadley thought he did too. What a doll!

A couple of weeks ago the young women of our ward and a couple other wards in the stake (we're joining them for girls camp) held a spaghetti dinner/lip sync fundraiser. Curtis and I were *privileged* to sing a Sonny & Cher song together for it. Fun stuff.

Check out the background first on this next picture. For Adelyn and Hadley's birthdays this year we fixed up a bike we've had around forever for Adelyn to use and bought a tricycle for Hadley to use (we also threw out three tricycles we kept thinking we'd fix up but it ended up not being worth it). They love being outside even more now.

We have a couple of blowers for our yard. Adelyn and Hadley really like to use them whenever they're out.

Adelyn insists on "posing" for every picture she's in now. She also asks us to take her picture sometimes when she really thinks she's being cute or something.

Updates

First off (because it happened first), I'm pregnant. I'm 10 week along now, meaning I haven't gotten this far in a pregnancy since I had Hadley. The baby looks good in ultrasounds, I'm sick as a dog (alway a "good" sign) and the doctor doesn't seem worried at all anymore. We're all hoping this one will stick around. Yay. My only complain (so far :) ) is that the Zofran doesn't seem to be the miracle cure it once was. I've been told it's probably because my nausea is even worse this time around. I didn't realize it COULD get worse! Oh well, I'll live. No pictures of that just yet - I just look fat right now anyway.

Second, Curtis plays indoor soccer every Saturday with a couple of his cousins and some of their friends. Last Saturday he came home injured. His ankle was swollen beyond recognition and he couldn't walk on it. (but he did, however, drive home in our stick shift car with it - that had to be good for it) So we got him some crutches and when Monday came around, he headed to the doctor to see what was wrong. It was sprained on both sides (which the doctor said is more painful than breaking it), but it should heal relatively quickly. Curtis is even hoping he can still play again THIS Saturday. Crazy boy, he's still limping.

We tried taking pictures of it the first night, but they weren't very impressive. Now the bruises are much more pronounced.
Oh, and all the pictures in this post were taken by Curtis' camera, so that's why they're not top quality, but they're better than my camera's pictures (remember the broken chair post?).
Next up, the kids. Adelyn loves to help out. Here she is trying to help Curtis chop wood. You can barely see it but she's holding an old shovel handle (straight up in the air) and trying to hit the piece of wood on the stump. Cute.
She's also becoming quite devious. She wanted Hadley's drink. I reminded her a couple of times that it was his and that she had already drank hers. The Curtis came up, and asked Hadley if he wanted his drink. She said "actually, it's mine, dad." Punk!
Most of the time they really like each other and play really well together.
Hadley's favorite phrase right now is "what's this?" Even when he knows the answer. Sometimes, if he thinks you're not paying enough attention, he'll turn your head for you, to look directly at him. He's way cute and fun right now.
The kids love to "read" the comics on Sunday. They also both love to laugh and make others laugh. Adelyn especially, will even tell you to take a picture of her if she thinks she's really being funny or cute.
Yesterday morning I came upstairs to hear Adelyn and Hadley playing in my room. Adelyn was telling Hadley in a rather strict voice, "you just have to trust me" over and over again. Now this immediately brought up images of Mysti and I saying something very similar to that to Krysta right before she broke her arm. I don't want to deal with a kid with a broken arm any time soon (or ever, if I can do it), so I ran in there to see what was going on. Whatever Adelyn wanted Hadley to do, he didn't seem very interested. They weren't even next to each other, so I still have no idea what she was thinking.
We ran out of milk a few days ago and I never got around to going to get more. So for the last few mornings we've had Cream of Wheat. The kids don't like it, but I thought they'd get used to it and eat it. Instead they just got used to starving. They even stopped asking for snacks between breakfast and lunch (knowing that they don't get them when they don't eat the previous meal). Crazy kids.
Curtis bought milk last night and we had cold cereal for breakfast this morning (their absolute favorite). Hadley clapped and said "yum, yum!" when he saw it and Adelyn announced that "we LOVE cereal, mom!" As if trying to teach me to never give them "the other stuff" again! They each had seconds.

And last, but not least (even though I don't have any pictures for it), my brother Bryce is going on a mission very soon to Africa. His farewell is this Sunday. Fun stuff. I'm so excited for him. We were even able to go to the temple with him last night as a family.

Haircuts

Last night was haircut night for the kids. Both Adelyn's and Hadley's hair was becoming unmanageable. Here's how long Adelyn's hair was beforehand.

So we sat them down in front of the TV watching Kung Fu Panda. Curtis cut Hadley's and I cut Adelyn's hair.

Here's Hadley's results (today after putting gel in it). He gets trims much more frequently; Curtis is really good at it.

And Adelyn's after curling it today. I am happy with the results. Although they weren't quite what I started out to do. I cut about four inches off and then started layering it. By the time I was done I had cut at least another inch off because I wasn't very good and the layers weren't very even at first, but I think it turned out pretty good... for an amateur. :) Then I feathered the front and trimmed her bangs. I wanted to try an a-line on her, it'd be so cute, but I don't think I'm quite up to that level yet.

And last but not least, this is one of the kids' favorite new activities. You don't need to watch the whole video to get the idea. They remind us of the "Wheelers" on the second Wizard of Oz. And no, they aren't ruining the finish on our wood floor. It was already ruined when they discovered this great game.

Random Pictures Again

I haven't posted for a while (Curtis did the last few) so I felt like I should.

Lately Adelyn has gotten way too big for her hooded towels, but she gets jealous of Hadley if I try to have her use a regular one. So my sister-in-law told me about some hooded towels she had made and I made some too. They're made out of regular towels. You can get two of them out of two towels and one hand towel. The kids love them! Here's the hood.

One day when the kids were bored, I decided to do a "craft" with them. Here's the end result:
I had them lie down on some butcher paper and I traced them. Then they helped me decorate themselves. They hated lying still for me to trace them, but they loved to decorate the pictures. I didn't even have very much for them to decorate them with but they didn't seem to care at all. Now they're hanging up in their room.
One night we went with Curtis when he went to play basketball with the guys in the ward. On the stage was this prop and the kids wouldn't stop playing behind it. Once I took a picture of them, they kept wanting more and after each one, they'd come out from behind to come look at their picture on the camera.

One night we decided to take the kids bowling. We hadn't been since before Hadley was born. We invited my sister and her husband to join us and had lots of fun. I suck at remembering to take pictures, so you'll almost never see a picture of Curtis (he's always behind the camera), sorry!

But we stayed far too late, and the kids started getting really distracted and irritable. They spent most of the last half of our time there in the arcade, asking for more coins and rides.

I have to mention that I just had my 27th birthday. The reason I have to bring this up is because I have to tell everyone how amazing Curtis is! My birthday was on a Monday and on Sunday we went for a walk after church. During the walk, Curtis asked if it'd be okay if we left the kids at his parents' house overnight (we were going there later to celebrate Curtis' mom's birthday anyway) and if it'd be okay if we left Koda at my sister's house. I thought that was strange but said okay. Then he asked if it'd be okay for us to stay the night in Salt Lake City. Cute!

He had arranged everything for us to stay overnight at the Anniversary Inn. Including packing for everyone, even me! When we woke up on Monday, he drove me to Park City and we went shopping! It was one of my best birthdays ever!! I have the best hubby!

Once in a while when we have ice cream we give the kids their own bowls. It doesn't happen very often...and I think you'll understand why. It makes for a good picture, but it's a bear to clean up.

I had to make a couple of trips from the truck to the house after church (such is the life of a parent I suppose). On my final trip Adelyn met me at the door with two bottles of fingernail polish: pink and nude. Nude seemed to match her outfit the best, so I tried to sway her that direction. Nope. She wanted pink. Arguing with a three year old is silly and futile (as I'm sure most of you know). Besides, they're her hands. What do I care? She'll just pick it off later anyway. So I got started.

After we finished the right hand, I took her left hand and then found out why she had two colors - because she has two hands. Duh. I should have known. I figured she's only three and she can always blame it on me (dad). That, and it made her happy. What more could I ask for?

For the record, I think I did a pretty decent job for a dad.

Adelyn recently learned "Ring around the Rosies." We're pretty sure Hadley has no idea what is going on. As long as there is spinning and falling involved, he's 'in.'

Just a few pictures from our day in the snow.

Koda loved it. (He's hard wired to chase anything that moves, which was us on the tube for most of the day.) We ran over him several times. Hopefully he'll remember the experience and stay behind us next time.
Adelyn's recent infatuation with Pooh's Heffalump movie had her referring to every "lumpy" bit of snow as a heffalump. Cute.

Hadley enjoyed the ride down, but was basically useless on his own. (Not really his fault since his boots are too big and the snow was up to his chest.)
