Sunday night I had taken Hadley into my room and placed him on the bed while I did some things. He likes to sit up on the bed and look around. Koda (the dog) came into the room with something stuck on his nose and I bent down to get it off. It was stuck better than I expected and I put all of my attention into getting it off. The next thing I knew, Hadley had pulled himself to, and off, the edge of the bed. Head first. I felt awful; I was right there and I didn't even see it happening, let alone stop it. He wasn't seriously hurt, but it still took quite a bit of comforting to make him feel better.
Monday morning I went to the gym. I got Adelyn out of the truck and put her down to get Hadley out. When I shut Hadley's door I found Adelyn on the other side with her fingers now pinned in the door. I quickly opened the door again and she pulled them out and started screaming. They didn't look or act broken but they DID look like they hurt a lot. We stayed in the parking garage for a little bit, while I decided what to do. I was pretty sure she didn't need to go to the doctor, and I gave her some tylenol for the pain and I was hoping she'd start feeling better soon, so we decided to go in -- maybe the nursery in the gym would be a good distraction for her.
So we went in -- with me carrying both kids, and both of them crying (Hadley cries when Adelyn does). The ladies in the nursery agreed with me that her fingers weren't broken. So they took Hadley and played with him while I tried to calm Adelyn down. We sat there for 25 minutes before she was calmed down enough to answer questions. I asked her if she wanted to stay and play or go home. She said go home.
As we were walking out of the gym, Adelyn wanted to hold my keys (a normal request) so I let her. When we got back to the truck she wouldn't give them back to me (not normal) so I sat her and Hadley down so I could get them from her. She got mad and stomped her feet -- on Hadley's hand. He started screaming which set Adelyn off again and neither one of them stopped until we were almost home. When I went to get them out of the truck to go inside I realized why they had stopped. They had both fallen asleep from so much crying.
Wow. What a day. I'm glad it's all over (all that's left of Adelyn's incident are a few bruises, and Hadley doesn't have any marks) and I hope I never do such stupid things again!

I have these days too- when nothing seems to go right with your kids. The fact you feel terrible about these things you couldn't control shows even more how great of a mom you are. I hope your week goes better.
What a way to start the week! I am sorry! And seriously, like Jess said, the fact that you feel bad about it, just goes to show how GREAT of a mom you are! You are doing awesome.
I think you've already hit the stress quota for the week. Hopefully nothing ELSE happens this week!!!
Oh man! I used to only be able to imagine how stressful having two little babies at once would be like...but now I can imagine vividly! How stressful/crazy! You are amazing!
Don't worry, you aren't the only one! I accidentally let Skye fall off of our bed once, too. I only turned my back for a second and suddenly I heard a thud and then there she was on the floor screaming and crying, poor thing. So sometimes it just happens. You're still a great mom!
I am a blog stalker, I saw your blog on Ben & Shelly's. I am glad to know I am not the only one who does dumb things sometimes that involve my kids. I hope things are going better. Ü
I seriously left Janie at school last week on early day...at least you REMEMBERED to take your kids with you to the gym! LOL
Hope your week has gotten better!

What a rotten day! i definitely have those days too. The other day Zach feel off the playground and I had a dream that he fell off and broke his neck and was paralyzed. Now I'm paranoid about letting him play. I just hate seeing little ones get hurt, but i guess no matter how hard you try things are going to happen.
