Sorry this is so long, but there's lots to catch up on.
First off, my mother gave Adelyn and Hadley these cool Halloween shirts. (they lit up whenever they moved)
The kids were pretty fascinated with them.
We carved pumpkins at Curtis' parents' house. That was fun. Curtis and I got pictures off the internet and did our best pretending they were "skinning" patterns. I think we did pretty well. This one is Curtis'.
This one is mine.
I carved a pumpkin like this a couple years ago that I just loved, so I wanted to do it again this year. This time Curtis helped and it still took me more than one night to do it (three to be exact). By the time I finished, I had to hold it together while I carved. It was cute when I finished, but I'm not so sure it was worth it...
(the carvings go all the way around -- it's supposed to be a table centerpiece)
...because the next morning it looked like this... (and it looked completely "melted" by the next evening -- sorry I didn't get a picture of that)
On to costumes.
Adelyn was a ballerina.
Look how cute her little bun is.
Curtis was a party pooper (or so his mom says, because he never dresses up). Although, maybe that's for the best because I'd never get both kids and me dresses up in time if it wasn't for his help. He says he doesn't like the holiday and he has yet to help me decide on costumes for the kids and myself, but he's extremely helpful when it comes to finding the costumes (we get most of the pieces at Savers) and getting them ready and on. (I'll bet he spent at least half an hour popping the lenses out of my glasses for my costume last year)
Then there's me... I'm not going to tell you what my costume was. You'll just have to guess, but here's a hint. Last year I was Professor Trelawney from Harry Potter. This year I was also a Harry Potter character (Harry Potter two years in a row was not on purpose), but not a professor. (this picture was last year -- wow, you can barely tell I was pregnant -- or so I think)
This is this year's costume. Who was it?
I've even got the feather. Sorry there's no pictures of me turning into a bug.
Hadley was a cow. Sorry I didn't get very many pictures of him. I never even got one of his cute tail. Blake (Curtis' brother) was an "outpatient". This picture doesn't do him justice. He was in scrubs (his hospital gown) and he had stitches all over his face.
Mysti (my sister) was a black angel.
Jaylee (our friends' little girl) was something... a halloween ballerina fairy or something. Whatever she was, it was adorable. I swear we took some pictures of her mom but I can't find them anywhere. She was Sarah Palin and she totally looked the part.
And last, but certainly not least, Joni (Curtis' sister) was Syndrome. I thought she looked awesome. She even has the red hair.
That was our Halloween. We took Adelyn trick-or-treating and she loved it. At the first few houses we went to we were the only ones around and the people thought she was so cute they gave her more than one piece of candy. She was wonderful at saying "thank you" and "bye", but she usually said "trick-or-treat" right BEFORE they opened the door, so they never heard it. Anyway, back to the candy part. She got used to people giving her extra candy and by the end she would just stand there waiting after they gave her a piece. She wouldn't say thank you and she wouldn't leave until they gave her extra ones or until we took her away. Wow, what a kid.

Fun pictures! Your kids are getting so big and sooo cute! We really need to get together when I am in Utah in December/January.
Ok, I totally guessed wrong on your costume because I just looked it up, but I seriously LOVE that you dress up especially as Harry Potter characters (I haven't gotten into the books, so I am not as knowledgeable about them all, but I love the movies).
I also love your pumpkins! So cute! I have always wanted to try the scratch away carving method. Maybe next year. I also loved your picture of the sunken pumpkin. It's REALLY sad how quickly they turn that way after HOURS of work!
I LOVE the Pooh and Piglet Pumpkins!!!!
Thanks Elise, My family thought your costumes were great!
You did amazing on those winnie the pooh pumpkins! A lot better than I could do! It looks like you guys had a great Halloween:)
