We're moving!

I can't believe it. It's finally happening. We're moving next week.

We've been trying to sell our house since February. There was one in our ward that we wanted to buy. It was in a better school district, in a better city and neighborhood, had a half acre of land and a great garage. It was also over a hundred years old and really cute. Not to mention, we wouldn't have to leave our ward; which has been the best ward we've ever been in.

But it was not meant to be. The very first guy who came to look at our house made an offer on it, then was caught on parole violation the next day and sent to jail. After that we were always everyone's "2nd choice" which, while it sounds nice, means we don't get to sell.

The bad luck continued until we decided not to sell and just stay put. I got really antsy about a day or so into that. You see, I really, really want a better yard for my kids to play in. Our current yard is better than no yard, but not by much. So we decided to try to rent our house out instead of sell it.

We also decided to make sure we had looked at all our options for buying a house as well. So we let our realtor show us around anything in Davis or Weber county that looked like it might suit our needs. At first everything she showed us made us want the one in our ward even more. But then we went through one and fell in love. We put an offer down immediately and began trying to find a renter.

Our luck was holding out -- in a bad way. We, again, were everyone's "2nd choice". We were getting close to the date set that we had to have a renter by or our financing would fall through for the new house and we hadn't found a renter yet. I had already started packing and we were so excited about the new house that this was really starting to weigh heavily on us.

Then Fast Sunday came and we both fasted and prayed that this would happen. The day before our lending would fall through, we got a renter. I can't tell you how thankful I am for fasting and prayer and relying on the Savior to help pull us through after everything we could do was not enough.

We'll be moving next week, although, because of previous commitments, we won't be leaving our ward 'till the first of January. And perhaps after that, we'll still come back for the weekly sports night that we both love.

I can't wait!!! The new house was built in the 50's and Everything in it is fairly original, but in amazingly good condition. Someday soon we'll want to start updating it, but at least we don't have to 'till we can afford it. Lime green shag carpet, clear resin with glitter countertops, avocado green appliances, etc, here we come!

pppphhhtttt. I love you, but I don't like you right now. You were supposed to stay here with me in our nice little circle of friends....I'll get over it eventually.

Boy, reading your blog brought back memories of buying this house. Trials of our faith. We will miss you, but I am excited for your family. Also everything in this house was original were talking Metal cabinets in the kitchen. But that the nice part of buying from an elderly person it s all in livable conditions until you can afford to redo. Have fun an dif you need anything let us know. Ü
